- The idea that a (male) virgin past a certain age (18, 22, etc.) is a complete loser at every aspect of life.
- The idea that sex with a woman (or a relationship with a woman) yields some sort of knowledge about life.
- The idea that going after women will always lead to generalized improvement in a guy's life.
(All of these ideas are connected with each other.) Assuming that I really am attractive to women and this experiment goes the way I think it will go, I am going to be dropping a nuclear bomb on these ideas in proving them wrong.
These arguments are extremely problematic as the proponents of them seek ways for them to not be testable. Otherwise, they have to deal with cases like myself who are successful in many other aspects of life. I can't exist according to them so they invent nebulous ideas about what being with women does to a guy. In other words, they are based on what is essentially mysticism instead of reason and verifiable experiments.
Assuming I don't crash and burn in this experiment and that I'm correct about my beliefs, all three ideas will be proved wrong. In this experiment I'm doing it as I am right now (since I'm testing whether I'm successful with women as I am right now, not after some nebulous improvement). This means that idea 3 will be on the chopping block if I'm successful. I will be able to tell you if I gain any meaningful knowledge as a result. If I am correct, then I will be able to prove idea 2 wrong as well. My current existence already disproves idea 1.
Since people who believe in the three ideas I listed will want to hold on to them for dear life rather than admit they were wrong in the face of experimental evidence, I am certain we will see some tortured logic to explain me away such as:
- That I'm lying about what happened or that I was lying about being a virgin before the experiment. (This doesn't qualify as tortured logic, but I included it for completeness.)
- That in some strange conceptual way I haven't truly been a virgin for years so my results don't mean anything
- That in some strange conceptual way I am still a virgin after having sex so my results don't mean anything
- That I'm capable of thinking in usual ways so that I already gained any knowledge that I would have had from the experiment long before it
- That I'm not capable of learning whatever I was supposed to learn from the experience due to some reason that's otherwise obviously absurd (such as me having Aspergers syndrome)
- Some other reason that I'm a unique anomaly that I can't come up with right now.
The fact is that as this experiment goes on, there will be people who will torture logic to create convoluted other explanations of what is happening to me. Remember, you heard it here first.
The experiment continues tonight. I'm going to a Halloween party where I should be able to meet some women. Expect a post about it in the next few days.

I will tell you already the problem you have from a "scientific point of view" you are prejudging your results, i.e. you have bias and are not neutral, so your findings, no matter what, are going to coincide with your beliefs. This essentially invalidates this as any kind of experiment, other than one to satisfy yourself that your right.
Remember that what I'm actually testing is whether I'm attractive to women. In that case, yes I'm kind of assuming I will be successful since that's the basis of this test. Anything beyond that is secondary.
Yes, it isn't a perfect scientific test. It would never be since there are way too many variables that would need controlling that I could never control. My biases are just one of many problems. This is actually very squishy in terms of anything that even distantly resembles a scientific experiment. Regardless, this is only real test we will get of some of these side ideas.
For the second and third idea to be true, that would mean my thinking would be forced to change at least somewhat as a result of this experiment. For instance if I gained some type of knowledge about life from having sex after one or more times, then you would see a difference in my thoughts/beliefs about this. If these ideas are true, given what they say, it should FORCE a change in my biases at least a little. This would have to be the case since my life would "improve" after the fact and that I would know things I didn't before.
As for having sex, we'll see what happens. For this experiment to work, I need to know whether these women I encounter are really interested in me or just being friendly. Sex is the real test here. However, this isn't about how quickly can I get laid which is why I said before I'm not going after drunk chicks in bars.
I don't think that women can impart something to you. That being said, I know that a lot of men have a greater zest for life and motivation for the future when they are either romantically involved or there is someone who they want to be involved with. This can give greater energy to the person to accomplish greater things than they would otherwise. Some would confuse this with being imparted by the woman, but it is really a hormonal thing (and a wonderful one at that I might add)
It will be interesting to see what you come away from this with.

Most men are unable to do that so they have to get laid to do it. OK its a poor way of doing it, but its all most men have. That's too bad since your way is superior, Pmaft. I would say any insight into what makes a girl tick is valuable in life because you have to deal with them in life unless you go completely off the grid.
And as Erik pointed out that although women themselves do not impart wisdom (except perhaps of the sort of "ouch, I don't want to do that again") the pursuit of them often leads men to lead better lives, although being ensnared by one often has the exact opposite impact.
I would say any insight into what makes a girl tick is valuable in life because you have to deal with them in life unless you go completely off the grid.
You get that from general interaction with women too.

This is something I strenuously dispute. How is chasing women going to better my life unless bettering my life means getting laid? My life is great. I live a life better than most people by an objective or semi-objective metric you wish to use. If chasing women leads to me having a better life, then what you're really saying is that chasing women will make me a millionaire.
I guess its one of those intangible things that is hard to describe. Its like constant internal inspiration. A feeling that your heart might burst out of your chest (in the only good way that could ever happen) I guess you will know it when it happens to you.

The problem is that even if men like PMAFT are an exception, he is proof of concept that being with women is not necessary to be successful in life. This opens up a discussion about what else can conceivably help men be what they need to be. Let me put it to you another way: The a vast majority of people use Windows and only a relative fraction of people use Linux does not mean Windows works and Linux doesn't.
